Our proposal aims to determine if inexpensive nanoparticles can be used to perceive ABA and to emit a visual signal.  If successful, we anticipate that these nanoparticles can eventually be used in punch-card type assays that could be easily deployable within the field and used by farm workers.  Specifically, we propose a proof-of-principle experiment to determine if nanoparticles can be used to: A: Detect short-term changes in ABA levels with high sensitivity and B. Report these changes using a sensor.
